How do I become a Foster Carer?

In the first instance we would like people who are interested in finding out more about foster care to call our Bankstown Office and speak with one the staff in our Out of Home Care Programs. We would then send out a package of information for people to consider if fostering is something they wish to pursue.

There are several stages involved in becoming a foster carer including mandatory training called Shared Stories Shared Lives as well as an assessment of you and your family. Screening of prospective carers is a requirement of the child protection legislation. We ask people to consider whether fostering is right for them and their family at each stage of the process.
